Paul Wiefels, Strategic Advisor

Paul Wiefels is a managing director and one of the founding partners of Chasm Group LLC, a leading Silicon Valley management consultancy serving the global technology industry. He provides counsel to companies and organizations – from start-ups to the Fortune 500 – in the areas of corporate, business, and market development strategy, and specializes in product marketing and positioning. He is the author of The Chasm Companion: Implementing Effective Marketing Strategies for High Technology Companies (HarperCollins; Capstone International).

Over the past 20+ years, Paul has worked with clients in virtually every sector of technology including information technology, consumer tech, biotechnology, medical devices, and technology-based services providing counsel to CEOs, CMOs, and senior management teams in North America, Europe and Asia.

Paul began his career in consumer marketing in both the packaged goods and financial services sector. He was recruited to Apple in the early 80s where he began his career in the technology sector serving in marketing management positions with Apple’s U.S. and international operations.

Prior to joining Chasm Group, he served as director of consulting for Landor Associates, the world’s largest branding consultancy. Prior to Landor, he was worldwide director of product marketing for database software provider, Ingres Corporation.

Mr. Wiefels graduated the University of Southern California and earned an MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business. He has served as a faculty lecturer in the California State University system; previously lectured at Stanford; and currently lectures at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business. He serves on the advisory boards of vArmour Networks and Revision Optics.

Kerry Keating, Senior Strategist for Sport and Entertainment

Keating brings over 22 years of experience at the highest level of collegiate athletics as a basketball coach with assistant roles at Seton Hall, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Tulsa, Tennessee, UCLA, and as a Head Coach in the heart of Silicon Valley for nine years at Santa Clara University.

Widely regarded as a technologically advanced coach, Keating has sought beta programs and advisor roles at organizations developing cutting-edge recruiting and development tools for his teams and student-athletes. Those relationships include Synergy, Sports Code, and Fast Draw among many others over the last 20+ years.

As a Division 1 basketball coach, Keating has built a strong network at the collegiate level and in professional basketball arenas where his former players have gone on to compete.

Thomas Sachson, Advisor Entertainment and Consumer Technology 

Thomas is currently the Director of Emerging Technology for Sony Music Entertainment. As a consumer technology executive with digital content, social media, and hi-tech manufacturing experience, Mr. Sachson has developed multiple early-stage consumer technologies in Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, and Beijing for Ikanos (Qualcomm company), Viosoft, Intel, and Sony Music. Thomas is a named inventor on numerous patents and is a licensed attorney.

George is currently EVP & Head of International Business of Borqs Technologies Inc., where he is a member of the executive leadership team responsible for corporate strategy and international business. Borqs is a fast-growing company delivering smart connected devices and cloud solutions for the Internet of Everything world. Previously George was CSO & EVP of Marketing at Agreeya Mobility and before that George was GM for Strategy & Product Planning and GM of PC Client Services at Intel Corporation.


Jeff Zwerner, Advisor Product Design, Market Positioning & Brand

Jeff is currently Head of Design at One Medical where he is responsible for all aspects of brand design across marketing and in-office experiences for the fast-growing primary care provider. Jeff has over 25 years experience launching brands and products. In addition to founding the international design consultancy, Factor Design, which he later sold to Palm, Inc., Jeff has held senior leadership roles at Apple and Evernote before joining One Medical.
